(toskanews) – On the slopes that will host the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics next year, the friendship between two super ski champions is celebrated. Lindsey Vonn went to the slopes of Val di Fiemme to cheer on her friend Jessie Diggins. The queen of downhill, three-time Olympic medalist, has returned to competing at the age of 40 and is training in the beautiful Dolomites of Trentino and has come to cheer on her friend Jessie who is competing in Final Climb of Tour de Ski.
“She’s the best, we both come to Minnesota, she’s the best,” Lindsey said. «I’m really lucky, I have the best fan in the world, she gave me a surprise, I saw her this morning and I said to myself: now I have to have a really good race» added Jessie enthusiastically.
The American cross-country athlete finished the Tour de Ski on the lowest step of the podium in the general classification. The embrace between the two athletes was greeted by an enthusiastic and surprised crowd. The World Cup circuit includes 7 races between Dobbiaco and Val di Fiemme in just one week.
