That is why Bruges is sharpening its police regulation by allowing a maximum of twenty participants per guide. Moreover, there is a ban on standing still in busy streets and bridges, such as in Stoofstraat, Wijngaardstraat, Wijngaardbrug, Walstraat, Bonifaciusbrug, Blinde Ezelstraat and Begijnhof, the publicly accessible inner squares of the Brugse Godshuizen and within a perimeter of ten meters around the Rederijpen of the Ronderijten.

A ban already applies to using benches, garbage cans and lampposts to address participants in a walk. This is extended to the walls of bridges and the quay walls of the reien. The new measures will take effect from 1 March 2026.
