The return of the former Bundesliga coach Lucien Favre to the French first division soccer club OGC Nice is perfect. The Swiss succeeds Christophe Galtier.

The club announced this after Favre had already led the training in the morning.

According to a report in the sports newspaper “L’Equipe”, the Swiss was already leading the training. The coach castling among the top French clubs has not yet been finalized.

The previous Nice coach Christophe Galtier is to switch to the French champions Paris Saint-Germain. The capital club is still dealing with the modalities for the separation from the previous Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Favre had already coached Nice between 2016 and 2018 before going back to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. The French still have fond memories of their first year on the Cote d’Azur, when Favre led the team to third place. After the first half of the season, OGC even led the table.

A few weeks ago, Borussia Mönchengladbach tried to get the 64-year-old back. Favre finally canceled the Bundesliga club.
