Liesbeth Niessink new party leader Forum for Democracy Drenthe

Forum for Democracy in Drenthe will enter the upcoming Provincial Council elections with Liesbeth Niessink as party leader. The Drenthe candidate list was announced yesterday during a national FvD party conference in Zaandam.

The 34-year-old Niessink comes from Roden and works in an electronics store. She succeeds Hendrikus Velzing as party leader. He led the list four years ago at the Forum for Democracy in Drenthe. Velzing is still party leader of the party and is number two on the list. Current Member of Parliament Johnny Bos is also eligible for re-election, bringing the total list of candidates for the party to three.

FvD in Drenthe writes that Liesbeth Niessink attaches great value to the Drenthe language, culture and traditions and will dedicate herself to preserving and promoting them. She also wants to bring politics closer to the citizen, for example by introducing a provincial referendum. Furthermore, FvD mentions that Roden is a fanatical ice hockey player and drummer.
