This edition of the Drenthe Liberation Festival has attracted around 25,000 visitors so far. This was announced by the chairman of the festival, Bob Bergsma. That is considerably less than last year, when the festival attracted 40,000 visitors. According to Bergsma, there are several explanations for this. “Last year, May 5 was a national day off, and the weather was beautiful. Today the weather is a bit disappointing, although it remained dry.”
Headliner Chef’Special also canceled today due to illness. The band would perform last, and was replaced by Xander de Buisonjé, Sven Versteeg and the M&M Band.
“I expect that we will have between 25,000 and 30,000 visitors,” says Bergsma.
