Liberation Day with a radiant sun: ‘Don’t forget to rub yourself’

Good news for those who are free on Liberation Day: Thursday will be a great day to go out for a drink on a terrace or a liberation festival. That is what weatherman Alfred Snoeks of Weerplaza predicts. “Don’t forget to rub yourself in!”

According to the meteorologist, Liberation Day will start dry and sunny in the morning. But it can still be a bit chilly this early in the day, he thinks: around 9 degrees.

But in the afternoon it gets really nice, when the temperatures rise to even 20 degrees. “Almost summery,” he says. Later in the day there will be some high cumulus clouds in Brabant, but they should not spoil the fun. The sun will shine through that, Alfred thinks.

A shower in the south
Still, according to the meteorologist, some people from Brabant can have a bit of bad luck. “There might be a little rain in the south, but I wouldn’t let that ruin my day,” he says. That eventual shower could fall around the end of the afternoon, very locally.

A real sunny day for a terrace or a liberation festival. And don’t forget to put the sunscreen in your bag. “The sun is already burning quite a bit.”
