900 euros for a Harry Styles ticket? Liam Gallagher reacts to X with ironic posts. The controversy is escalating – and he himself has experience.

After Harry Styles’ fans were already outraged online about the high cost of concert tickets for the planned “Together Together” residency, another musician also commented on it. Liam Gallagher, who celebrated a stage comeback with Oasis in 2025 with his brother Noel after 16 years, got involved in the shitstorm.

Advance ticket sales and angry fans

The controversy erupted earlier this week when pre-sales for the initial six shows planned to promote Harry Styles’ new record KISS ALL THE TIME. DISCO, OCCASIONALLY (release: March 6th) began at Wembley Stadium in London. Hundreds of thousands of fans stood in the virtual queue for hours on Monday, January 26, 2026 to get one of the highly sought-after tickets. A large part of the fan base was surprised by the high prices of the tickets: a single ticket for the London dates was in the price range of 72.95 and 725.45 pounds. The most expensive ticket – a premium ticket – was available for the equivalent of around 900 euros, and that was without the travel costs that Styles’ chosen tour concept means for many of his followers. They shared their frustration about the expensive prices on social media.

Oasis frontman gets involved

As the criticism against Styles grew louder, Liam Gallagher joined in on X. Responding to the ticket prices, he simply wrote: “HOW MUCH,” before further inciting fans by joking that he had “bought 20 tickets” and intended to resell them “above market value.” The remarks were widely interpreted as ironic, but they further fueled the debate.

Liam Gallagher’s comments followed an earlier online taunt against Styles that surfaced before the awards controversy went viral. When a fan asked if he had heard Harry Styles’ new track “Aperture,” Gallagher replied, “Yeah, I can’t listen to it anymore.” The artist’s comments are probably seen as a joke, as the two singers had been friendly with each other in the past. These online provocations have now become Liam Gallagher’s trademark.

Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones?

Gallagher’s involvement in the debate is particularly interesting given his own experiences with price criticism. In 2024, fans and politicians criticized the resort to dynamic pricing when selling tickets for the Oasis concerts. While the tickets initially started at the equivalent of 86.50 euros, the quotas were quickly exhausted, so that many fans – who spent hours in the queue – were only able to purchase platinum tickets at a price of up to 415 euros.

This incident sparked renewed scrutiny of Ticketmaster’s pricing structures, with allegations that demand-based pricing unfairly penalized loyal fans. The controversy continues to shape public discussion about the affordability of concerts worldwide.

Forecast of sell-outs and discussion of price developments in the concert business

But the high prices probably won’t change the fact that Harry Styles will only play in sold-out stores. Demand for tickets to his world tour – which will take Styles through Europe, South and North America and Australia in 2026 – is huge.

The controversy over ticket prices raises fundamental questions about the development of the live music industry. Observers are discussing whether the price increases have become common practice in the industry or whether individual acts are deliberately targeting a more exclusive audience. Harry Styles himself has not yet commented on the negative comments surrounding the expensive tickets on social media.
