Liam Gallagher has released Better Days, a new single from his May 27 solo album C’MON YOU KNOW. The hopeful song comes along with the accompanying music video. Like the record as a whole, it’s been described as the “sound of summer” by the former Oasis singer.

Between Chemical Brothers and Revolver

In terms of sound, the four-minute track is reminiscent of a band that, like Gallagher himself, was born in Manchester: Many fans draw parallels to the electronica duo Chemical Brothers. The drums could have been borrowed from the Beatles song “Tomorrow Never Knows”. Another factual reference: “Better Days” featured guitarist for indie rock group Yeah Yeah Yeahs Nicholas Zinner.

Everything will be fine

Thematically, Gallagher keeps the life-affirming course of the previous singles. “There will be better days when the sun enters you / And the shadows from your heart disappear / There will be better days when my love finds you,” it says in translated words right at the beginning. Everything will be fine, so the message, no matter how dark the night and freezing winter may have been: “If you’re lost, I’ll find you there / With the sun’s rays in your hair / And the sadness will be washed away by the rain ‘ the musician announces.

The song was illustrated in Manchester by multi-Grammy nominee Paul Dugdale. The music video was shot on the roof of the 4-star luxury hotel “The Midland”, where Gallagher performs his new single and band. A drone captures the Victorian architecture of one of the city’s most iconic and beautiful buildings on film.

For the good of the world

Gallagher is also charitable with his latest release: For the rest of this year, all UK proceeds from Better Days will be donated to the War Child charity. “We couldn’t be more grateful to Liam for his incredible, ongoing support for the charity,” said Rich Clarke, who is responsible for the charity, in a statement – the musician has been loyal to the fundraiser for almost 27 years.

Two albums in one day

Alongside Liam Gallagher’s third solo studio album, C’MON YOU KNOW, another record by the musician will be released on May 27th. This is the live album DOWN BY THE RIVER THAMES, on which you can find Oasis classics such as “Supersonic”, “Cigarettes & Alcohol” and “Champagne Supernova”, as well as pieces from the musician’s solo oeuvre – including “Once”, “Wall Of Glas” and “All You’re Dreaming Of”.
