Liam Gallagher makes provocative comments on the Rock Hall of Fame fan rankings. With around 100,000 votes, Oasis is far behind Phil Collins, Sade and Billy Idol.
British band Oasis is in talks to be inducted into the prestigious Rock Hall of Fame. But it looks like it will be someone else. Liam Gallagher in particular made no secret of what he thinks of the Hall of Fame last year and is now taking on it again.
Things aren’t looking good for Oasis to be included, and some other artists are way ahead of the Britpop band in the rankings. The singer’s comment didn’t take long to arrive – but he addressed the people who voted directly.
What are the chances?
Last year, 14 new artists were nominated for the Hall of Fame, including Mariah Carey and The White Stripes as well as Oasis. Even back then, the frontman was not enthusiastic about his fellow campaigners in the nomination list and commented abusively on X that the Hall of Fame was for “wankers”. Still, when asked by a fan what he would do if he were inducted, he answered: “Of course, go and say it’s the best thing ever.”
However, the chances that Oasis will be thanked for induction into the Rock Hall of Fame in 2026 are currently rather slim. Traditionally, fans decide by vote which musicians ultimately make it into the Hall of Fame. In this ranking, Oasis is behind artists like Sade, Billy Idol and P!nk with just over 100,000 votes. The leader of the list is Phil Collins with around 300,000 votes.
Liam Gallagher reacts provocatively
Gallagher is already known for his caustic comments on the X platform. He also had something to say about the fan rankings in a provocative way. He commented on the distribution of votes and addressed all voters who took part: “I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart who did NOT vote for us. This is for you, thank you.”
The 53-year-old also addressed those who voted for him and his band: “And to everyone who voted for us: calm down!”

However, you can at least give your band a right to exist in the rankings or even in the final Hall of Fame. Last year, Oasis achieved one of the biggest comebacks in music history. After Beyoncé, the band played the second most successful tour of the year.
