The Olympians Yvonne Li and Kai Schäfer successfully defended their titles at the Badminton Championships in Mülheim/Ruhr.
Li (24) defeated Ann-Kathrin Spöri 21:19, 21:11 in the final and triumphed for the fourth time in a row. For Schäfer (29) it was the second success after the 21:16, 18:21, 21:13 over Matthias Kicklitz.
The European champions Mark Lamsfuss, Marvin Seidel and Isabel Lohau were absent from the 70th DM edition. The doubles specialists paused in view of the World Championships in Tokyo (22nd to 28th August).
