Many of the “repressive” decrees signed by Trump are a “serious threat” for people, especially for those without US citizenship, it says in the Letter published on Wednesday (02.07.2025).

“Widespread fear and uncertainty”

For the millions of foreign guests who are expected to the currently running club World Cup and the World Cup for men’s national teams in the USA in the USA, the implementation of the exclusive migration policy could contribute to “widespread fear and uncertainty”.

More than 90 organizations have signed the letter, including the well -known human rights organizations “Human Rights Watch” and “Amnesty International”. The majority of the signatories make up organizations based in the United States and also fan gradations.

Danger of deportation and detention

The letter states that foreigners take the risk of being detained, detained or deported at the control stations even if they entered their entry. This also applies to political statements that displeased the administration.

The letter appeals to the FIFA World Association of affecting the US President to respect human rights. This is also necessary due to your own guidelines.

Trump and Infantino together on tour

In practice, it looks like Gianni Infantino has been in the Oval Office of the White House several times this year and courted the US President.

There was neither gave to respect for human rights, while nor after the World Cups in Russia 2018 and Qatar in 2022 serious appeals and or actions by FIFA.

Despite the warnings of human rights organizations, the 2034 World Cup was awarded in a non-transparent procedure on Saudi Arabia, which is in the index to maintain human rights in the back ranks.

Saudi Arabia is an important sponsor of FIFA and its tournaments, just like the North American continental association.

Together with Trump, Infantino was recently for talks in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and also the United Arab Emirates. He therefore even came too late to FIFA Congress in Paraguay. The delegates of the European Football Union left the hall in protest. Since then, nothing more has happened since then, even of the clubs represented at the club World Cup, there are no critical tones for Trump and FIFA.

On some occasions, the World Association announced that it assumed that fans should enter the USA for the tournaments and are also safe there.

Iran qualified for World Cup – and excluded from entry

However, flat -rate entry bans against twelve countries apply. Among them is Iran, which is already qualified for the World Cup and was recently in a military conflict with the United States. The ban on entry explicitly accepts athletes and trainers from the ban. But for fans from the affected countries, the path remains blocked.

In 2017, Infantino had said to the USA, Mexico and Canada before awarding the 2026 World Cup 2026: “There are many countries with entry restrictions and visa requirements. But of course in FIFA competitions: every qualified team, including their officials and fans, need access to the host country – otherwise there is no World Cup.”

FIFA has long since moved away from such clear words, despite several reminders, warnings and letters.
