“It would be cool”
“Let’s Dance” dancer wants national players as a partner

David Raum was a guest at a dance tournament in Leipzig at the weekend. Suddenly the national player came into the focus of a well-known RTL dancer.
On the sidelines of the World Dance Championships in Leipzig on Saturday evening, David Raum met Renata Lusin, known from the RTL show “Let’s Dance”. The 26-year-old national player from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig was there with his wife Kathi after the duel against Hamburger SV (2:1) – and was surprisingly wooed by the professional dancer. She suggested that he join in on the dance floor himself in the future.
Lusin, who won the show in 2021 with ex-national player Rúrik Gíslason, even shared a picture of Raum and his wife Kathi in her Instagram story and wrote: “Maybe my next Let’s Dance partner?” The 38-year-old shared a survey about this. 95 percent of those surveyed clicked “Yes, that would be cool” (as of Sunday, 8:55 p.m.).
Raum, who has hardly any dance experience to date – apart from a few hours in preparation for his wedding – reacted surprisingly openly. On MDR’s “Sport im Osten” he said: “She asked me about it and wanted to dance with me. I don’t think the club would see it that well.” The right-back didn’t want to rule out an appearance on the RTL show: “Maybe after my career. In any case, a lot of persuasion was done. I’m thinking about it.”
However, a quick implementation is not expected for the time being, even apart from the sporting issue. Lusin is in the fourth month of her pregnancy. She and her husband Valentin Lusin, also a professional dancer, are expecting their second child. That’s why she won’t be there in the upcoming “Let’s Dance” season in 2026.
