Leontien van Moorsel and the other celebrities who participate in the new Jan Versteegh show The Bicycle Race on SBS 6 are in for quite a treat. “A grumpy face!”
The new Jan Versteegh show The Bicycle Race revolves around six celebrities who cross the south of India by bicycle with a friend or family member. And that doesn’t exactly make Trouw critic Maaike Bos enthusiastic. She gets crooked toes from all those polder stars who treat the local population in a rude manner.
No thank you
The celebrities have a budget of only thirty euros and if they lack money they have to turn to the already poor local population. “That’s where the problem comes in,” says Maaike.
She points to Teun Kapitein, better known as TV hairdresser Teun Föhn from the SBS series Urk!. “He doesn’t even thank people when they show them the way.”
Grumpy
Leontien van Moorsel and Josje Huisman are also not behaving well, according to Maaike. “Leontien, with her fear of contamination, also sits among the locals with a grumpy face.”Who’s speaking English?‘, participant Josje (ex-K3) shouts hurriedly to a group of Indians.”
Rude, the TV columnist calls it. “Give those people penalty points for rude behavior. Let them earn points if they treat the population politely, like Joshua Nolet and friend Bart do.”
Opportunism
Those celebrities do not know how to adapt and behave, says Maaike. “The competitive element encourages Western opportunism among the participants, and then the eye for the other disappears like snow in the sun.”
The Bicycle Race started last Sunday with a measly 436 thousand viewers on SBS 6.
