A fan pulls out Lenny Kravitz’s dreadlocks – and the incident isn’t the only one. Why attacks at concerts by Halsey, Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa are also outrageous.
In the past few weeks there have been several reports of attacks by concertgoers against artists. On November 21, a guest forcefully reached out to Lenny Kravitz during a show in Brisbane – ripping out four of the singer’s dreadlocks.
“Do you know how hard you have to pull to rip this out of my head?”
Traditionally, Kravitz plays “Let Love Rule” as an encore and walks through the audience. And it was during this part that a woman came so close to him that she could even grab his hair. Specifically, the rock star said in his Instagram story: “When I went out to ‘Let Love Rule’, a very excited young lady ripped four dreadlocks out of the back of my head.” And he further asked rhetorically in the clip: “Do you know how hard you have to pull to rip this out of my head?”
Lenny Kravitz carries on as usual
Nevertheless, the musician doesn’t want to let fan contact stop him. He continued in the Instagram story: “Damn, baby. Anyway, I won’t stop coming to the audience for ‘Let Love Rule’ because that’s what we do. This is our moment together. Brisbane, you’re wild. I love you.”

Halsey groped by fan
Kravitz is not the only artist who has recently experienced inappropriate behavior from viewers. Halsey was groped by a fan at a concert in Washington on November 4th. A video that went viral on social media shows her singing “Is There Somewhere” and getting close to the audience. What happens next: A concert-goer puts his hand on Halsey’s thigh and finally slides it under her leather skirt. A security guard stopped the attack and Halsey continued her performance without any interruption.
Dua Lipa was also touched inappropriately
Dua Lipa experienced a similar experience in Los Angeles at the beginning of October when a fan touched the artist inappropriately during a photo opportunity in the front row. See here:
Billie Eilish brutally attacked live
Just recently, an incident at a Billie Eilish concert once again brought the safety of artists into focus. An attendee attempted to violently drag Eilish into the crowd as she approached fans in Miami on October 9th. Before security removed the man from the arena, a girl wearing a red bandana stood up for Eilish – and it went viral on social media.
However, the fan who was rude to Eilish does not have to fear any further consequences. In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Miami police said: “The individual has been removed from the Kaseya Center. That is all.”
“Fans have forgotten manners”
Artists like Billie Eilish have experienced repeated clashes with fans in recent years. Concerns about the safety of performers are therefore increasingly being expressed. In 2023, according to the Independent, Adele criticized fans for forgetting how to behave at shows.
There have previously been a number of incidents in which pop artists such as Lady Gaga, Harry Styles and Taylor Swift were hit by objects thrown on stage by fans – from food such as cabbage to electronic devices such as cell phones, roses and jewelry. Billie Eilish was also hit in the face by an object during her “Hit Me Hard and Soft” tour in 2024 and had to interrupt her song for a few seconds.
