Is there a risk of bad déjà vu? Bayern star injured

Lena Oberdorf waited 410 days for a competitive game after tearing her cruciate ligament. Now she apparently has to take a break again.
Bitter setback for FC Bayern: German national player Lena Oberdorf had to end the Bundesliga duel against 1. FC Köln prematurely after just 20 minutes due to an injury. After a hard collision with Cologne’s Adriana Achcinska, she grabbed her right knee – it was impossible to continue playing.
Just a few minutes later, TV images showed that Oberdorf’s knee was being bandaged. The 23-year-old left the pitch on the Bayern campus and was supported by carers. Momoko Tanikawa came on for them in the game, in which the Munich team was trailing 0-1 at the time.
Ultimately, the Bayern women remain undefeated in the league. After Cologne’s Sandra Jessen (5th) fell behind, Tanikawa, who came on for Oberdorf, equalized (45th + 7th). Afterwards, Magdalena Eriksson scored with a header despite a head bandage (53′), Georgia Stanway (60′), Stine Ballisager (61′) and Pernille Harder (84’/penalty kick) for the favorites. In the end, Tuva Hansen also had to go out with an ankle injury.
For the first time since her cruciate ligament tear before the 2024 Olympic Games, Oberdorf is back in national coach Christian Wück’s squad. Her right knee was also affected by her serious injury. The world-class midfielder not only missed the summer games, but also the European Championships in July in Switzerland.
Oberdorf was actually supposed to make her comeback at the German women’s Nations League games against France on Friday in Düsseldorf or the following Tuesday in Caen.
