Lena Dürr just missed the podium

In the first round, DSV athlete Lena Dürr laid the foundation for an Olympic medal. In the end, however, it wasn’t enough for the podium.

Ski racer Lena Dürr just missed out on a medal at the Olympic Games that was within reach. As the leader after the first run, the 30-year-old from Munich finished fourth in the slalom. She was 0.07 seconds short of bronze.

Gold was won by Petra Vlhova (Slovakia), who was seventh after the first run. She won ahead of world champion Katharina Liensberger (Austria/+0.08 seconds) and Wendy Holdener (Switzerland/+0.12). Emma Aicher was 18th. Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) was eliminated in the first race.

“If it were a World Cup race, it would be fine now. It really hurts now. It was really so close, I really fought,” said a visibly emotional and tearful Dürr after the race on ZDF .

“You can’t afford to make any mistakes. Tomorrow I might be able to say that I’m proud of my first run. It’s just bitter right now,” Dürr continued.
