It’s not her weekend: Lena Dürr couldn’t convince in the giant slalom on Saturday. Just a day later she fell in the slalom.

When Lena Dürr slid down the slope and landed in the snow, she remained lying there. Her head bowed towards the ground, as if she couldn’t believe she had just fallen. The German ski racer was less than ten seconds on the slalom course when she slipped and was eliminated early in Kransja Gora (Slovenia).

ZDF commentator Julius Hilfenhaus said at the beginning of Dürr’s run that she delivered consistent performance. After the fall, he was stunned: “As if I had described it. I had just said: So reliable, never fails. We can delete the statistics.”

Dürr put too much pressure on the inner ski, causing the outer ski to slip away. The result of the inclined position was the fall. Hilfenhausen added: “It will boil inside her. Annoying mistake. Every mistake is annoying, but it’s unnecessary in the category.”

Dürr himself said on ZDF: “When something like that happens in the first few goals, you always don’t know what’s going on. It happened faster than expected, I think I just slipped away. Then it was a bit slippery up there, Of course the ski doesn’t hold up. I had other plans today than just skiing seven goals. That’s why I’m obviously disappointed.”

The German was unable to take advantage of her chance of a podium finish in the absence of the still injured American and record holder Mikaela Shiffrin. In the giant slalom on Saturday everything didn’t go perfectly for Dürr, who ended up in 25th place.
