Led Zwickau and Aue to the 2nd Bundesliga

Almost everywhere where the man with the distinctive mustache worked, both sides put up with each other for a long time. He worked for FSV Zwickau for over five years (1991-1996), eight and a half years in Aue (1999-2007) and most recently for five and a half years at his home club, Chemnitzer FC (2008-2013). And his successes are impressive. Zwickau and Aue led Gerd Schädlich to the second division, with Chemnitz he was promoted to the third division. Most recently, the Saxon was a scout at Halleschen FC from 2014 to 2016. Now the man whose “straightness” and “modesty” were praised is gone. Schade leaves behind a wife and daughter.

“Chemnitzer FC is in deep mourning”

Schädlich’s parent club Chemnitzer FC said in the evening with an emotional statement from CEO Romy Polster: “Chemnitzer FC is in deep sorrow,” Polster is quoted as saying in a statement: “It’s incredibly sad and so difficult to find words at the moment or the scope for us to grasp. Gerd Schädlich was a constant, a person and a worker who was there for the club quietly and without making a fuss about his person and put his success above everything else, “said CFC CEO Romy Polster and emphasized: “With With his calm and almost fatherly charisma, you always felt valued, respected and supported in his presence. Today we have lost a great footballer, person and friend.”
