Former Werder professional Ilia Gruev, who has been with Leeds United since 2023, has tipped the 16th matchday of the Bundesliga for Transfermarkt. The 25-year-old Bulgarian expects his former club to draw against TSG Hoffenheim at the start of the second half of the season. According to the midfielder, the top 3 in the league (click here for the Bundesliga table) are not showing any weakness, and 1. FC Heidenheim can make an important leap in the relegation battle.

According to Gruev, coach Frank Schmidt’s team achieved a 2-1 home win against 1. FC Köln and thus their first three-pointer since St. Nicholas Day 2025. The competition in the bottom of the table in the form of Mainz (0:1 against Union) and St. Pauli (1:3 against RB Leipzig), however, is stagnating. Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC Augsburg end in a draw – at least according to the 27-time national player. SC Freiburg remains unbeaten in the fourth competitive game in a row and beats Hamburger SV 2-0 in front of their home crowd.
Eintracht Frankfurt (1:2 against BVB) and VfB Stuttgart (2:3 in Leverkusen) suffered setbacks in the top half of the table, while leaders Bayern Munich, according to Gruev, scored four goals as they did at the end of the year and sent VfL Wolfsburg back to Lower Saxony without a point.
