Duncan Laurence has ensured that our country has won the Eurovision Song Contest again after 44 years, but he does not enjoy hero status in the least. People are well done with him, especially after he threw in this year’s entry, Mia & Dion, as a ‘mentor’, and after the revelations of lyricist Wouter Hardy.

Snake Duncan

This Wouter, who co-wrote the winning song Arcade, states that Duncan is a real snake in everyday life. He tells in it AD how they had agreed on Arcade’s royalty rates, but that Ilse DeLange, who released the song, completely disagreed.

And what happens then? “After the performance we ran into each other and Ilse tackled me hard. Verbally, but she also grabbed my arm and squeezed it very hard,” says Wouter. “Once outside I reminded Duncan of our mutual agreement. Suddenly he knew nothing about it. I was completely shocked.”

In other words: a snake.

Final blow

Public opinion about Duncan has shifted enormously. He is dealt with very hard by the men of Today Inside in particular, but they are by no means the only ones. Angela de Jong and RTL Boulevard are also annoyed by him.

And who will give Duncan the final blow now? Lee Towers. He was not at all pleased that Duncan sang his famous hit You’ll Never Walk Alone during the final of the Eurovision Song Contest last night. In RTL Boulevard: “I have nothing to do with that man, let me put it this way. Yes Yes. Finished.”

Beneath contempt

Lee thinks Duncan is a bad boy. “He won the Eurovision Song Contest last time, but the way people have treated each other in the past two years, I think: yes… Also with that producer who was involved. Beneath contempt. I have nothing to do with that. Those are not my type of people. Let me put it this way.”

Oops, painful, find commenters on the internet. “I think Leen is not the only one. I think the guy is on white powder. Just look at his whole appearance and his eyes,” tweets one MaxxiePeet.

“all about me”

Duncan sang the song because his father and grandfather used to sing it to him. Story boss Guido den Aantractor: “It’s all ’bout me. All.

The well-known TV tweeter Victor Hopman finds it painful that Duncan sang You’ll Never Walk Alone. “Ironic when you had to accompany a musical duo but you didn’t show yourself at all 😂.”
