Ledegem wants to build the new building ‘De Samenkomst’ on a piece of grassland on Sint-Eloois-Winkelstraat. Or better: De Samenkomst 2.0, because that is what the architect calls the new design. Not only the building, but also the area around the site has been redesigned. Emiel Debusseré, alderman of Patrimonium Ledegem: “We are actually going from two buildings in the original plan to one building in the new plan.”
Parking pressure
The municipality also buys the house next to the lawn, which will serve as a crisis home. And behind the house there will also be a new storage room for the Chiro. Local residents are positive, although they are concerned that there will be insufficient space to park there.
The municipality wants to submit the building application this summer. If everything goes according to plan, work will start in the summer of 2027 and be completed by the end of 2028.
