LeBron James won the NBA player of the week award on Monday in the West but, due to discomfort in his left ankle, he will miss the game that the Los Angeles Lakers will play tonight at the Denver Nuggets court.

Just turned 38 years old, LeBron was named player of the week 12 in the West by posting 35 points, 8.7 rebounds and 7.7 Assists for the Angels.

The Lakers, with LeBron at full throttle due to the loss of Anthony Davis since mid-December, have added five consecutive losses and still don’t know what it’s like to lose in 2023.

Before playing the games on Monday, those in purple and gold are eleventh in the West (19-21) and they have a complicated challenge tonight in Denver against Nikola Jokic’s Nuggets, who are leaders of their conference (26-13).

For his part, Donovan Mitchell, of the Cleveland Cavaliers, was chosen player of the week in the East.

Mitchell averaged 37.7 points, 7.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds although, above all, the Cavaliers guard will remember this week for his impressive and historic display last Monday against the Chicago Bulls, to whom he scored no less than 71 points.

The Cavaliers are fourth in the East with a record of 26-15.
