LeBron James celebrates 38th birthday with welcome victory and 47 points: ‘I promised my teammates’ | Other sports

LeBron James celebrated his 38th birthday with an impressive performance in the NBA. The American superstar led the Los Angeles Lakers with 47 points to win over the Atlanta Hawks: 130-121. James had already promised his teammates before the game that he would score at least 40 points.

,,And so I had to live up to that,” said the four-time NBA champion, who spoke to the press earlier this week expressed his frustrations about the disappointing results of the Lakers. “However, when I had only scored once after five shots, I did not know if it would work.”

‘King James’ recovered and still got up to speed in Atlanta, under the watchful eye of his mother and wife who were sitting in the stands. Only Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Jamal Crawford also ever managed to score at least 45 points in an NBA game when they were 38 or older.

James was one assist short for a so-called triple-double. He gave nine assists and grabbed ten rebounds. The Lakers star is on course to replace Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer in February.

With 15 wins to 21 losses, the Lakers are in the lower echelons in the west.
