Leaps of thought through the night of the museums

The night has always fascinated and frightened. It influences our bodies, everyday life, the structures that surround us and is often the subject of literature and music. Recorded for the first time as a live podcast as part of the Long Night of Museums in Lübeck, a violinist, a chronobiologist and an architect discuss the many facets of the night. What role does night play in music? How do we align our internal clock with the time of day? How do you make a city feel safe at night? the episode 17 our podcast “Leaps of Thought” and thus the last of the season “Reflected”.

Daniel Sepecprofessor of violin at the Music Academy in Lübeck, takes us straight to the pantry of his flat-sharing community in Vienna, where he regularly rehearsed at night as a student. He still prefers to play concerts in the evening and prefers the morning for lessons. We know that it follows a very chronotypical course Henrik Oster of the University of Luebeck. The chronobiologist researches the function and effect of so-called circadian clocks and always associates creativity and success with the “internal clock”. He also discussed the decisive role played by light Lydia Rintzprofessor of urban planning at the Technical University of Lübeck. In turn, she reminds us of the importance of making fearful spaces in a city safe places for everyone, for example through smart and warm lighting. This is particularly relevant in Lübeck, where it is not uncommon for people to stroll through the beautiful streets of the old town, seemingly alone.

Moderated by Theresia Lichtlein, Head of Communications at the Lübeck University of Applied Sciences, the Lübeck hoch 3 podcast highlights research, culture and society topics once a month. Representatives of the three universities involved in the project (Lübeck University of Music, Lübeck University of Applied Sciences and Lübeck University of Applied Sciences) and, depending on the topic, an expert as a guest are invited.

The podcast is available through the website www.gedankenspruenge-podcast.de and all common platforms ready for retrieval. The episodes go online on Wednesdays in the middle of the month.
Knowledge transfer, mutual dialogue and new ideas – this is what Lübeck stands for 3. The initiators and representatives of the three universities see their own podcast as an important building block to stimulate discourse with society about science and culture.
