THEand are leaks after sex physiological? In most cases this is absolutely normal. After intercourse, the vagina can expel a combination of fluids: vaginal secretions, cervical mucus, and seminal fluid. It is a physiological, natural process, linked to the way in which the body regulates itself and maintains its balance.
During intercourse, in fact, the vaginal mucosa increases its lubrication and the cervix produces mucus: it is a perfectly orchestrated biological response.
Afterwards, it is normal for some of these liquids to be expelled. It is not “abnormal leakage,” but simply the body cleansing itself and returning to its baseline state.
Pink or bloody discharge: when not to worry
Sometimes a light pink or slightly blood-streaked discharge may also appear.
This can happen because i Vaginal and cervical tissues are very vascularti and, in some moments of the cycle – for example around ovulation or before menstruation – they are more sensitive.
Even slightly more intense intercourse or mild dryness can cause a superficial micro-irritation.
There is nothing pathological in this, if it is an occasional episode, which does not repeat frequently and is not accompanied by other symptoms.
When is it best to have a gynecological check-up
However, it is important to pay attention when bleeding after intercourse becomes recurrent, more abundant or is associated with pain, burning, bad odor or persistent discomfort.
In these cases it may be useful to have a gynecological check-up to exclude infections, inflammation, small lesions of the cervix or other conditions that deserve attention.
Listen to your body without being alarmed
As often happens, it is not the isolated symptom that makes the difference, but its frequency, its intensity and the context in which it occurs.
The body never sends out random signals: learning to distinguish what is physiological from what needs to be explored further is the first step towards experiencing your intimate health with serenity and awareness.
