Sebastian Vettel has commented on the rumors of a motorsport comeback. The Heppenheimer could be weak at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has not ruled out a motorsport comeback. However, this would probably not be in the premier class, but in the Sports Car World Championship with the highlight of the 24-hour race in Le Mans. “Nothing has been signed or decided so far, but I have the matter in the back of my mind. I still have time to decide,” said the 36-year-old from Heppenheim to the trade magazine auto motor und sport.
“If at some point I come to the conclusion that it is not possible without racing, then I will drive again,” said Vettel. Last week there were rumors in France that the South Hesse man could take part in a test in Spain for the British Jota team at the beginning of October.
See you again with Mick Schumacher?
Vettel, who was back at Formula 1 last weekend in Suzuka for the first time since his retirement, had repeatedly come out as a fan of endurance races and especially the classic Le Mans during his active times.
If he decides to take this step, he could race against his friend Mick Schumacher next year. Bruno Famin, vice president of Alpine Motorsport and interim team boss of the Formula 1 racing team, confirmed in Suzuka that he was in talks with 24-year-old Schumacher about a possible involvement in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). “It would be good for him, but it’s a chance for both of us. Hopefully we can arrange a test soon,” said Famin.
