Lazio, the former Jony accused of embezzlement … of a floor

The Spanish exterior in the sights of Manfredi Mattei Filo della Torre: he would have made the floor of a gymnasium disappear in the villa where he lived in Rome

Not a crime, perhaps not even an offense. Simply a question to be clarified and resolved. Lazio midfielder Jonathan Rodríguez Menéndez, better known as Jony, currently on loan at Sporting Gijon, finds himself embroiled in an unpleasant controversy. The Roman entrepreneur Manfredi Mattei Filo della Torre, son of Alberica Filo della Torre, killed in Olgiata on 10 July 1991 by Manuel Winston Reyes (sentenced only 20 years later), accuses him of having appropriated the floor of the gymnasium of a villa in the which Jony resided when he lived in Rome.

THE FACT

Let’s start from the end: the prosecutor Alessia Mele asked for the case to be closed. If anything, the matter must be dealt with by the civil court. The investigating judge takes time, and Jony risks having to respond to the accusation of embezzlement. When, in 2020, the Spaniard left the villa, the property was in perfect condition. Later, however, Manfredi Mattei Filo della Torre realized that, according to him, the technical floor was missing in the room used as a gym. The rubber one applied over the parquet. According to the reconstructions of La Repubblica, the entrepreneur would also have tried to resolve the issue by contacting the player’s agent, but without being able to find a solution. For this he would then have decided to take legal action. The prosecutor, however, explained that “this is a mere civil breach given the non-payment of the sum indicated on the invoice. And it cannot be excluded that the removal of the rubberized flooring of the gym was consumed by third parties, unbeknownst to Jony” . It is up to the investigating judge, in March, to decide whether to actually file the case. For the moment, however, it is neither a crime nor an offense.
