Lazio Rome had to lay off an employee. Falconer Juan Bernabè had to resign from his post – probably because of his photos and videos on social media.
That doesn’t happen every day either: Lazio Rome has fired its falconer and announced this in a statement on Tuesday. According to local media, Spaniard Juan Bernabè is said to have shared photos of his prosthetic penis on social networks. This is reported by the Reuters news agency. The penis pump is used as a surgical therapy for erectile dysfunction and Bernabè probably showed it off proudly.
Lazio therefore announced in a statement that the club “has seen with astonishment the photographic and video images of Mr. Juan Bernabè” and has read the accompanying statements and announces that, given the seriousness of his behavior, they are terminating all relations with him with immediate effect ” has aborted.
It is therefore with regret that the club has to announce that the eagle will not be present at games for the time being due to the missing falconer. “But we cannot associate our historical symbol with such a person,” the club continued. The Olympia eagle has been flying through the air since 2010.
It wasn’t the first time for Lazio that Juan Bernabè caused trouble for the club. The falconer was suspended in October 2021. The reason was a video that showed him with the Olympia club eagle in front of the fan curve. Bernabè stretched his right arm upwards while the spectators shouted “Duce, Duce” – a reference to Benito Mussolini. The Spaniard joined in the shouts.
The scene caused quite a stir and numerous complaints eventually led to Lazio responding. However, when the excitement died down, the Spaniard returned. Now the dismissal followed.
