Lawyer Pavlov found a case of treason against himself in a document from the Ministry of Justice – RBK

RBC sent a request to the Ministry of Justice.

In April, Pavlov became a defendant in the case of disclosing the data of the preliminary investigation (Article 310 of the Criminal Code). Then the lawyer said that this was related to the charges against Safronov. According to him, the investigators believe that he twice divulged the secrecy of the investigation: the first time, when he handed over to the Vedomosti newspaper the decision to bring his client to justice in the case of high treason, and the second time, when he announced the witness under the pseudonym Lander.

Within the framework of the case under Art. 310 of the Criminal Code, the lawyer was searched, he was detained. Then the Basmanny Court of Moscow banned Pavlov from communicating with witnesses, as well as using all types of communication (including the Internet, telephone and postal correspondence), except for communicating with the investigator, inspector of the Federal Penitentiary Service and emergency services. The lawyer considers the charges to be unfounded. Because of the bans imposed on him, Pavlov considered it. that work in Russia had become impossible, so at the beginning of September he left for Georgia. The lawyer indicated that he continues to represent Safronov’s interests and intends to return to Russia in the future.

The Ministry of Justice explained the demand to deprive Pavlov of the status of a lawyer

The submission from the Ministry of Justice, which Pavlov received, was sent to the St. Petersburg Bar Association. In it, the department once again demanded to deprive Pavlov of the status of a lawyer. The Ministry substantiates its request by the fact that there are several complaints against the lawyer. In particular, the document states, Pavlov is associated with non-governmental foundations and organizations whose activities are recognized in the country as undesirable and directed against the constitutional order of Russia. While engaging in activities not related to lawyer’s work, Pavlov “actually withdrew himself from providing legal assistance to his clients, which could lead to a violation of the law, in particular II Sofronov” (spelling preserved), it says.

According to the ministry, Pavlov “causes significant harm to the image of the legal community, the authority of the legal profession and undermines its credibility.” In addition, according to the statement, due to the criminal prosecution of Pavlov and his recognition as a foreign agent, “considerable damage has been caused to his professional and civil reputation.” At the same time in the Kremlin spokethat the inclusion in the list of foreign media agents does not impede the work.
