In the penultimate lap, Sweeck shook off Tibor del Grosso to ride solo towards his first victory ever in the Duinencross. The surprising Dutchman finished second on the Belgian coast, while Toon Aerts took the podium in third place. Eli Iserbyt did not get further than sixth place, but remains the leader in this regularity criterion with time classification.
Many top riders canceled in advance for this Duinencross, which was so severely decapitated. World champion Mathieu van der Poel, Thibau Nys, Lars van der Haar and Michael Vanthourenhout did not appear at the start for various reasons.
