Several industry stars who passed away in the past year were honored at the television industry’s Emmy gala.

Among the recipients of the honors were, among others, Actresses Betty White and Anne Heche and a comedian Bob Sage. The gala also remembered the deceased Mafia brothers-star Ray Liotta and Star Trek actress Nichelle Nichols.

White, Saget and Heche were remembered in the gala’s traditional In Memoriam program number.

At this year’s In Memoriam event, pictures of deceased stars were projected onto a huge screen by the singer John Legend’s Piecesaccompanied by the song.

Betty White was a five-time Emmy winner who received an additional 16 Emmy nominations between 1951 and 2014. The Tyttökullat star died on December 31, 2021 at the age of 99. Just a few days before his death, White had suffered a cerebral infarction.

Bob Saget died suddenly on January 9 at the age of 65. It was later discovered that Saget had hit his head and fatally fell asleep. During the night, Saget died of his head injury. Saget starred in the comedy series Full House for eight years and hosted America’s Funniest Home Videos from 1989 to 1997.

Heche died tragically on August 12. On August 5, he was involved in a devastating car accident after crashing twice into a house in Los Angeles. He was kept alive by machines for a week. On August 14, Heche’s vital functions were terminated.

Heche rose to fame in the late 90s from movies Donnie Brasco (1997) and I know what you did last summer (1997).

Actress-singer who died in August Olivia Newton-Johnia was not remembered at the event. Newton-John appeared in numerous TV roles during his long career.

The events leading up to Anne Heche’s tragic death were followed closely in the media.
