Late hack equalizer: Bielefeld saves a last-minute point in Darmstadt

Status: 05.09.2022 00:01

SV Darmstadt 98 missed the return to the promotion ranks in the 2nd Bundesliga. Coach Torsten Lieberknecht’s team did not get better than 1-1 (1-0) against Arminia Bielefeld on the 7th match day and is therefore stuck in fourth place.

Braydon Manu (8th minute) gave Darmstadt the lead before Robin Hack (90’+4′) equalized late on.

The Bundesliga relegated team, who started poorly, remained undefeated in the third game under new coach Daniel Scherning. Nevertheless, Arminia is still stuck in the table cellar.

Incredible miss by Lasme

The “Lilien” got off to a better start in front of 13,860 spectators without their yellow card suspended captain Fabian Holland, Manu tunnelled Martin Fraisl with the first shot. Almost in return, Bryan Lasme (9th) made an unbelievable miss, putting the ball on the crossbar from two meters with an empty goal.

Arminia was also otherwise good in the game. Oliver Hüsing (19th) failed with a header at Marcel Schuhen, on the other side Marvin Mehlem (39th) missed alone in front of the goal. After the change, Darmstadt gained slight advantages, but often acted too imprecisely in the last third. Bielefeld tried to score, but Hack first failed on shoes (52nd) and later only hit the outer post.

Almost with the last action, however, he still scored with a fine flick and robbed Darmstadt of the success that was believed to be certain.

Darmstadt away in Kaiserslautern

At the end of the 8th matchday, SV Darmstadt 98 is challenged on the Betzenberg in Kaiserslautern (Sunday, September 11th, 2022 at 1.30 p.m.). Bielefeld has to play in Nuremberg two days earlier (6:30 p.m.).
