Last year’s winner Schachmann gets out at Paris-Nice

Montlucon (dpa) – Last year’s winner Maximilian Schachmann got off his bike prematurely at the Paris-Nice cycle race. The German champion did not compete in the fourth stage of the traditional long-distance race, a 13.4-kilometer individual time trial from Domérat to Montlucon.

According to his Bora-hansgrohe team, Schachmann complained of being unwell on Tuesday after the third leg. In consultation with the team doctors, it has now been decided to take the Berliner out of the race. In terms of sport, the 28-year-old already had no chance after setbacks in the first two stages. Schachmann had won the race in 2020 and 2021.
