In the European Wrestling Championship held in Hungary, national athlete Taha Akgül won the gold medal in the men’s freestyle 125 kilograms.

In the last match of the third day of the organization held in the capital Budapest, Taha faced his arch-rival Georgian Geno Petriashvili in the final.

Olympic champion Taha Akgül defeated Petriashvili 5-2 to win the 9th European championship of her career.

Representing Turkey in the men’s freestyle 125 kilos, Taha defeated Serbian Magomedgadzhi Nurasulov 5-0 in the quarter-finals in Budapest and defeated Daniel Ligeti from the host country 10-0 in the semi-finals.

Taha Akgül holds the title of wrestler who has won the most European championships in freestyle.

Taha, who won the gold medal in Rio 2016 and the bronze medal in Tokyo 2020, also won two world championships in his career.
