In the VTI van Tielt there is no school bell these days, but the sound of sawing, keys and paint brushes. Teachers are rolling up their sleeves to get everything in perfect shape for the arrival of around 600 students.
“We are painting the new first aid room white. That used to be a time outlocal, and there were still all kinds of things written on the walls. Now it looks fresh again,” says teacher Jeroen Hugelier.
Lockers are also being restored, keys ordered and material prepared. “Many people think that you will close the door on 30 June and will not open again on 1 September. But a lot of work is being done during the holidays: making timetable, furnishing classes, cleaning machines, moving bicycle parking …” explains director Charlotte Strobbe.
