Christine McVie’s death has devastated fans and fellow musicians around the world. Hundreds of condolences and memories of the late artist also go under a specific YouTube video – it’s a clip from her last public appearance.

On February 25, 2020, just days before the pandemic began, a concert honoring Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green was held at the Palladium in London. Organized by Mick Fleetwood and with numerous guests – including Neil Finn, Noel Gallagher, Billy Gibbons, David Gilmour, Kirk Hammett, Jeremy Spencer, Zak Starkey, Pete Townsend, Steven Tyler and Bill Wyman – the musician’s work was still alive during his lifetime celebrated. Peter Green passed away just a few months after this event on July 25, 2020.

Christine McVie also did not let the invitation to the unique event for her former companion pass by and came on stage for the song “Stop Messin’ Round”. Even then you could see that she was physically ill. She slowly let herself be guided to her keyboard, where she performed standing up.

In a June 2022 ROLLING STONE interview, Christine McVie expressed skepticism about ever touring with Fleetwood Mac again. “I don’t feel physically able to do that. I’m in pretty bad health. I have a chronic back problem that paralyzes me. I get up to play the piano, so I don’t know if I could actually do it physically. As they say? The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Fleetwood Mac on the death of Christine McVie

“We were lucky enough to have a life with her,” Fleetwood Mac said in a joint statement. “As individuals and collectively, we have treasured Christine and are grateful for the wonderful memories we have. We will miss her so much.” McVie’s last tour with Fleetwood Mac was in 2018 and 2019. At that time, Lindsey Buckingham was no longer there. Neil Finn and Mike Campbell took his place on the stage. “The guys were amazing,” she explained in early 2022. “We had a great time with them, but now we’ve kind of broken up, so I hardly see them anymore.”
