A powerlifting superstar Larry Wheels says in his YouTube video that he stopped using steroids.

Wheels has spoken openly about steroid use earlier in his career. The 27-year-old lifter told about it in April With his YouTube video.

At that time, he said that he had been using performance-enhancing substances for ten years and had started using them at the age of 17.

Wheels stated that the reason for stopping the use of steroids was a back injury he received during training. He said earlier this summer that his goal was to lift 453 kilograms from the deadlift.

The injury opened Wheels’ eyes regarding his health. Many years of use of performance-enhancing substances have caused adverse effects.

– My body cannot produce testosterone naturally.

Wheels starts treatment, where his testosterone level is brought to a normal level with the help of drugs, because his body is not capable of it.

Now, he only aims to exercise and improve his health.

Earlier in the spring, Wheels went to the doctor, where he had a heart film taken on a treadmill. A powerlifter became concerned about the state of his heart when a famous bodybuilder Cedric McMillan died in April after suffering a heart attack while on a treadmill.

Tests showed that Wheels’ heart was healthy.

– Everything was ok. I’m in shock. I can’t believe this after ten years. Maybe I didn’t abuse (substances) as much as I thought. According to the doctor, I have a completely normal young man’s heart, he said at the time.
