The wind from the northeast blows hard that night and blows a spark of rain towards the village. The glass roof pours down. The building looks like a ‘chimney’, from which meter -high flames take off, as an eyewitness describes the situation on the spot. The fire was completely extinguished around seven o’clock in the morning. In sunrise you can see that some stone walls have ‘survived’ the fire.
Residents unharmed
The residents can all escape from the fire. For a two -year -old child it almost ends fatally. Her mother, who is panicking, warns agents and they find the child just in time in a burning house.
The residents are all taken care of in hotels nearby. Mayor Beekman and many villagers look sadly the next day at what has left of the pride of the village: almost nothing left.
