Last night a large fire broke out on the Dorpsweg in Schellinkhout in a business premises with several units. The fire has since been extinguished and a few people have been treated at the scene.
The first report of the fire came in to the emergency services at 3:08 am. There were several units in the building, some of which were completely destroyed. A spokesman for the fire service could not yet say how many there are. Some gas bottles have also exploded. A number of people were treated at the scene, but no one had to go to the hospital.
The spokesperson tells NH Nieuws that it is still too early to say how the fire started. Because the smoke went straight up, she said, local residents were not bothered by the smoke development. However, it was recommended to keep surrounding windows and doors closed and to turn off the automatic ventilation.
The homes surrounding the building were unharmed. The N506 has been closed off, the police are currently clearing the road.
