Large barn fire in Zundert is under control, house is spared

A shed behind a house in Zundert caught fire on Monday evening, with flames shooting out of the roof. The fire brigade gave the signal to fire at half past nine. No one was injured in the fire, a fire service spokesman said.

The residents of the nearby house on Rucphenseweg themselves alerted the fire brigade. The fire brigade ensured that the fire did not spread to the house, which is about ten meters from the barn.

The roof of the barn was destroyed by the fire. The fire brigade came to the fire with several units. Among other things, a large water transport from the fire brigade in Zundert was deployed because there is not much water available in the outlying area. A cherry picker also came to the scene, so that the fire could be extinguished from above.

Due to the fire, a lot of smoke was released, the road was temporarily closed for the extinguishing work. Firefighters expect it to take several hours to put out the fire.

It is not yet clear how the fire started. According to a 112 correspondent, cars are said to have been stored in the shed.
