Laren does not want the small refugee shelter, because the municipality considers the site too small to accommodate fifty refugees.
“The municipality is concerned about the quality of life and safety for young people at the location itself and the possible impact that shelter at this location could have on the environment,” it said.
Laren looks even further
According to the municipality, rejecting refugee shelters does not mean that nothing will happen at all. “Laren will continue to make efforts to look for opportunities to continue to contribute to the asylum crisis,” the municipality said.
Laren is not currently receiving refugees itself, but this is already happening in other places together with Blaricum and Eemnes.
