Lara Gut-Behrami achieved second place in Kvitfjell. However, she annoyed what would have been a reason to be happy for many. The Swiss woman made no secret of this.
At the weekend, the alpine ski racers stopped in Kvitfjell in Norweg. The Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami was also involved. In the Super-G, the 33-year-old raced to second place. But she didn’t want to be happy about it.
“I can’t be so happy about second place,” said Gut-Behrami openly. “I’m not satisfied at all. I always make mistakes. It slowly upset me,” the Swiss continued.
A main reason for Gut-Behramis dissatisfaction is likely to be that with Federica Brignone, her competitor, of all things, won the competition in Kvitfjell in the fight for the overall World Cup and in the discipline classification in the Super-G. In the overall ranking, Gut-Behramis behind is now 260 points, but in the Super-G it is still 55 points in front of her competitor.
“I’m not going badly all the season,” said Gut-Behrami. “I just lack the consistency of driving flawlessly and clean. It was all on train, although I was next to the line,” said her analysis. “That is what saves me.”
But the hard self -criticism had no end. “Nobody is to blame, except myself,” she said. “I always look for what I can improve. I’m not satisfied quickly. I want to show what I can do from top to bottom.”
