Lando Norris won the 2025 Mexican Grand Prix, which witnessed an exciting race in Mexico City. Norris, who started from the pole position, maintained his strong pace throughout the race and climbed to the top of the podium and took the championship lead.
THE START OF THE RACE
The race started with the five red lights going out, and the top four — Norris, Leclerc, Hamilton and Russell — started on soft tyres. Max Verstappen preferred the medium compound. Although Ferrari pilot Leclerc took the lead for a short time at the first corner, he gave his place back to Norris after he went off the track. There was chaos in the first minutes of the race when Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll spun.
10 SECOND PENALTY TO HAMILTON
Russell was also involved in the wheel-to-wheel struggle between Hamilton and Verstappen on the sixth lap. Although Hamilton gained a short-term advantage, he received a 10-second time penalty for gaining ground by going off the track. The British pilot, who pitted after the penalty, returned to the race in 14th place.
BEARMAN SHINED
Young Haas driver Oliver Bearman took advantage of the chaotic moments in the middle section to move up to fourth place. While Norris maintained his leadership, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was in second place and Red Bull’s Verstappen was in third place.
LAST LAP VIRTUAL SAFETY CAR
The positions became clear in the last laps of the race. Mercedes led young driver Kimi Antonelli ahead of George Russell to catch Piastri. However, two laps before the end, Carlos Sainz retired from the race due to mechanical failure, which activated the virtual safety car.
NORRIS WAS THE FIRST NAME TO PASS THE CHECKLED FLAG
The race restarted after the virtual safety car and Lando Norris passed the checkered flag without any errors. Ferrari pilot Leclerc won the fight with Verstappen until the last moment and came in second, while the Red Bull pilot took the last step of the podium.
