Lancia in rallycross, as an electric car

Lancia evokes strong emotions in every motorsport lover.

There are car brands that immediately bring a certain thing to mind.

There is hardly a person interested in cars who does not immediately think of rally after hearing the word “Lancia”.

The legendary Italian brand reaped success in the World Rally Championship from the 1970s to the early 1990s. The Stratos, 037, Delta S4 and Delta Integrale are each classic cars in their own right.

Lancias dressed in iconic Martini colors disappeared from the world’s rally tracks already 30 years ago, but the memory remained.

French Guerlain Chichers once fell in love with the rally cars of the Italian brand, when a compatriot Didier Auriol fought with Lancia for the dominance of the rally world Juha from Kankku, Carlos Sainz and against partners.

When his company GCK (Green Corp Konnection) expanded to build electric cars a couple of years ago, Chicherit immediately knew where the new car would find its inspiration.

In November, in the final race of the World Rallycross Series, a newcomer took to the starting line, who immediately got more attention than the other regulars of the series.

The Lancia Delta Evo-e RX driven by Chicherit did not make it to the semi-final stage in its debut, but the success was a side event.

The most important thing was to present to the world a car that is intended to compete full-time in the 2023 season in the World Rallycross Series.

GCK announces that 500 kilowatts will be released from the electric Lancia, which corresponds to 680 horsepower.

It’s already a horsepower reading that does honor to Lancia’s rally classics.

Toivonen, Alén and Kankkunen

The Lancia Delta S4 is considered by many to be the rally car of all time. PDO

Lancia has a very special place in the eyes of Finnish rally fans.

Markku Alén was a credit driver of the Italian brand for years. The Finnish driver, also loved by the Italians, drove to victory with the 037, Delta S4 and Delta Integrale versions.

Also won the world championship with the car brand Juha Kankkunen.

Lancia also brings to mind the darkest accident in the entire rally world. Henri Toivonen and a map reader Sergio Cresto died in Corsica in May 1986, when the Lancia Delta S4 driven by Toivonen derailed off the road down into a ravine, hit a tree and exploded.

In the opinion of many, Toivonen was the only driver in the world who was able to tame the monstrous Group B Delta S4 car.

A perfect replica of Hannu Mikkola’s Group B Audi Quattro was built – Petri Opas introduces the car.
