Lana Del Rey has released a new song for the upcoming James Bond video game “007 First Light.” He will be heard in the game’s title sequence.

“First Light” is a large, orchestral piece interspersed with motifs from the James Bond theme. It was composed and co-written with David Arnold, who previously scored five James Bond films – including “Tomorrow Never Dies” and “Casino Royale”. The Flight itself developed the score for the video game.

“The Bond theme is a unique narrative moment; it must embody grandeur, drama and tension at the same time,” Arnold said in a statement. “As part of this musical tradition, I know how important it is to honor this legacy while leaving room for evolution. Lana brought an elegance and atmosphere to the song that seems perfect to continue this tradition while bringing something fresh for a new era.”

First Bond game since 2012

“007 First Light” is the first video game in the James Bond series since “007 Legends” in 2012. Developed and published by IO Interactive, the game follows Bond as a rookie MI6 agent in a new origin story in which he has yet to earn his 00 status. It will be released on May 27th for PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S; the Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow later this year.

While the Bond community waits, the title sequence of 007 First Light, featuring Del Rey’s song, will premiere tomorrow (April 17) at 7pm EST on the game’s official channels on Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Steam and X.

Lana Del Rey has been leaking tidbits of her follow-up album to “Did You Know There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard,” which is said to be country-inspired, over the past few months. After several title changes – first “The Right Person Will Stay”, then “Lasso” – the album is now called “Stove”, but a release date has not yet been set. In February, she released the atmospheric single “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter,” calling it her favorite song from the album.
