Real Madrid remain undefeated in the eighth game of the season and are back in contention for the lead – but the win at Getafe was quite a torture.
The 1-0 (1-0) on Saturday evening (October 8th, 2022) was a very poor performance for a reigning Champions League winner, especially offensively. But that shouldn’t have mattered to Carlo Ancelotti’s team in the end: The royals are now at least going into the Clásico next matchday with the same number of points. FC Barcelona, who have also been unbeaten so far, can draw level again on Sunday evening against Celta Vogo.
Eder Militão was the man of the match against Getafe. Already in the third minute, the Brazilian headed a corner from Luca Modric into the goal.
Mayoral misses the equaliser
Borja Mayoral had a great chance to equalize in the 22nd minute, but slipped wide of the ball from close range. After that, Getafe kept coming forward dangerously, but in the end Andriy Lunin didn’t have to do too much brilliant deeds in the Real goal.
Another Real goal by Rodrygo (57th) did not count because of offside. National player Antonio Rüdiger played through in central defence, while Toni Kroos stayed on the bench.
First against Donetsk, then against Barcelona
