Three league games, four goals – it’s going for Robert Lewandowski and FC Barcelona in La Liga. Real Madrid struggled but had Karim Benzema.
Robert Lewandowski shot FC Barcelona to victory on Sunday evening (08/28/2022) with his second brace in a row. It was Barcelona’s first home win of the season. In the 4-0 (2-0) win over Real Valladolid, Lewandowski gave his new employer the lead (24th minute), Pedri (43rd) added before the break.
In the second half, Lewandowski decided the game with his heel (64′), Sergi Roberto (90’+2) made the final score.
The unbeaten Catalans, who also included French signing Jules Kounde for the first time, are third in the Spanish league with seven points.
Real climbs to the top
Real Madrid, on the other hand, had to tremble for the win against Espanyol Barcelona well into the final phase, then Karim Benzema once again redeemed the “Royal”. Benzema scored the lead in the 88th minute and in the tenth minute of added time also scored the 3-1 (1-1) winner.
Vinícius Júnior had previously given Real the lead (12′) before ex-Bundesliga player Joselu equalized for Espanyol just before the break.
Even if Real’s success was not as safe as that of FC Barcelona, the record of the Madrilenians is correct. Real Madrid are top of the table with nine points from three games.
Bilbao still without a goal, Atletico with a narrow victory
On Monday (29.08.22) Athletic Bilbao shot up to fourth place in the table with a 4-0 win over FC Cadiz, who were still pointless and goalless. Bilbao and Villarreal, tied on points, have not conceded a goal in their three league games so far.
Atletico Madrid narrowly won 1-0 (0-0) at FC Valencia late on Monday evening. Valencia were clearly superior in the first half, but were unlucky that a dream goal by Yunus Musah was subsequently disallowed due to a previous foul.
The “Ches” with great momentum. But then Atlético proved and above all Antoine Griezmann her callousness.
