“Let me be your paradise”: You can hear the five-minute-long song “Baby Doll” here.
The song had been heard many times in the past – Kylie Minogue repeatedly talked about the moment she made music with Prince in interviews. However, the world didn’t get to hear the resulting song – until now. The song titled “Baby Doll” surfaced online. You can tell that this is actually the track by Minogue and Prince that was thought lost for 32 years because the lyrics are identical to those that the Australian singer once confirmed.
This is how the duet between the two music greats came about
When Prince stopped in London on his Diamonds and Pearls tour in 1992, Kylie Minogue was also there. She finally met the US star backstage at Earls Court and asked him what he was currently working on. His response was an invitation to his studio in Minneapolis. But before that happened, the two hung out in his London hotel room and tried things out together – after all, according to Minogue, they were surrounded by studio equipment. Prince then reportedly asked the pop singer what was going on with her lyrics, referring to the fact that she wasn’t writing lyrics at the time. But then she made an exception for Prince and quickly wrote something about his sound. This is probably how the demo version of “Baby Doll” came about, which he then wanted to send to Minogue in cassette form. The only problem: it never arrived.
“Sugar and spice”
The musician must have written down the text, because in an interview in 2018, according to “NME”, she confirmed the lyrics of the song: “Let me be your baby doll, sugar and spice and all things nice / Let me be your paradise. “

According to Minogue, the fact that the piece wasn’t tinkered with further afterwards is probably due to her record company, which wasn’t enthusiastic about Prince wanting to take over the production single-handedly, according to “NME”. And that’s supposedly why she wasn’t sent a copy of the song again. She believes that Prince’s estate may still have the rough version of the piece, but there is no confirmation of this. How the track ended up online remains unclear.
