KV Oostende confirms Dominik Thalhammer as successor to Yves Vanderhaeghe

Thalhammer signs a contract with the coastal team until 2024. The 52-year-old Austrian was fired from Cercle Brugge in mid-September. He had already replaced Vanderhaeghe there in November last year.

After fifteen match days, KV Oostende is in fourteenth place in the highest football class with 14 points, barely three more than red lantern Zulte Waregem. Last weekend KVO lost 4-2 to champions Club Brugge. A week earlier, the relegation topper against Essevee was won (2-1).

“I stand for high-intensity football where we put pressure on the opponent and give them the necessary stress in possession,” explains Thalhammer. “I feel the potential is there to bring football here, but we will have to work hard, starting from today. I want to see a team that kicks off on Sunday with a healthy dose of guts, so that the fans immediately follow. us will stand.

“KV Oostende will receive KV Kortrijk (sixteenth with 12 points) in a new basement cracker on Sunday evening (9pm) on the sixteenth match day. Gauthier Ganaye, CEO of KVO, adds. “I am happy to welcome Dominik to our club. With Dominik we return to a game style that we know well and with which we have already achieved success. We have already seen that he achieved excellent results with this at Cercle and are convinced that, also with his coaching style, he will provide a new, positive dynamic. And we now need that positive dynamic in all parts of the club, because an important game against KV Kortrijk awaits us on Sunday.”
