The unexpected summer peak is a welcome boost for the local hospitality industry, who had to contend with relatively calm visitor numbers in recent weeks. “We had a few good weekends in the spring. And now we had a bit of a babbling July. Not very bad, but always few people. Now there is a peak that we really need,” says Erwin Renders of Blue Beach Strandbar in Blankenberge. He hopes that the good weather will last for at least ten days, so that it can be a “normal to good summer”.
